Getting Super Clear On Your Message & Sharing Your Truth
Do you know the core message of your business? Does it represent who you are and what you honestly believe?
Your “message” is the underlying theme, philosophy or ideology that drives your entire business.
Your message is NOT the same as your WHY (why you do what you do in business) or YOUR STORY (how you got where you are)–although they can all be tied together.
Your message shines a light into your core beliefs and it ultimately will connect you with your ideal clients.
Some business owners start with one message but just realize it can shift over time.
Many business owners have a message, but it feels like something is missing. And, some business owners don’t have a message at all!
Why? Because they’re scared to take a stand for something, or they don’t want to offend anyone.
When you stop yourself from saying what you want to say, you wind up feeling like you’re not saying anything meaningful, you’re not connecting with your true inner beliefs and end up speaking to no one.
And also when you’re not saying anything meaningful, you can’t possibly connect with your ideal clients – at least not authentically.
A solid and unapologetic message can help you cut through noise, abolish the algorithm and ease the ache of crappy email open rates, low engagement and no or low sales. Your unapologetic message is your TRUE message. It’s the HEART of the work you’re here to do.
So, if you’re ready to finally be known and recognized for the work you do in the world…it’s time to get clear on your unapologetic message, and let your voice be heard.
Most of us KNOW who we are and what we believe–we’re just not sharing it with the world. Use these questions as journal prompts to help you get to the heart of who you are AND what your unique message is:
- What do you dislike about your industry? What do you think needs to change?
- What do you say to your business besties that you’re afraid to admit out loud or to others?
- Why do you do what you do–the REAL reason ?
- What do you believe differently than most others in your industry?
- What do you truly want to say?
- What annoys you about your industry?
- What unique talents do only you have?
- Finish the sentence: “Here’s what I know to be true…”
- What did the former version of yourself REALLY need to know / hear in order to move forward in [insert-your-area-of-expertise]?
- What experiences make you uniquely qualified to do the work you do?
- What lessons have you learned that you’re secretly (or not secretly) dying to share with others?
Your message might not come from one of the answers to those questions above directly. But, the questions should help get the wheels turning.
Finding your message requires digging deep into who you are and it doesn’t necessarily happen overnight.
These questions work especially well for those who have gone through a similar struggle as your ideal clients. But the truth is EVERY business has a message.
Sometimes you have to start sharing the answers to these questions in order to really HONE in on your overall message.
So how will you know when you’ve got “THE” message? Your true unapologetic message will feel like a relief to finally “say” out loud. It will feel like the thing you were always supposed to do and say all along but were probably scared to do so.
Your message will feel meaningful, genuine, and inspiring to you. Your true message will feel like a HELL YES (and make way for HELL YES clients and collaborators to align with and buy from you).
The truth is your audience can tell when someone is messaging from their soul and ABSOLUTELY believes in what they are doing/saying.
Just imagine if you didn’t feel like you had to “put on a mask” before writing your content or going Live.
Imagine if you didn’t feel exhausted after creating content or marketing or doing sales calls.
Imagine if you stopped having an overwhelming urge to take a day (or a bunch of) days off because you KNOW you’re doing your life’s work. That is what’s at stake.
If you know there’s so much more to you & what you’re here to share than what you’re currently showing the world on social media, this is for you…
